Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51 million viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American average was over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
