Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report early analysis show the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior official said the incident left him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
